## Historic Achievement in Rawalpindi

In a remarkable display of power hitting, Mohammad Farooq, a 23-year-old opener for Markhor IT Solutions, shattered a long-standing record in Pakistan's domestic cricket. During a President’s Trophy Grade I match at Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Farooq hit 14 sixes in his innings of 163 runs off just 99 balls against Khan Research Laboratories.

## Breaking a 59-Year-Old Record

Farooq's achievement surpassed the previous record held by former Pakistan captain Majid Khan, who hit 13 sixes in a first-class innings against Glamorgan in 1967. This record-breaking performance also eclipsed the previous highest number of sixes in a first-class innings on Pakistani soil, previously set by Gulfraz Khan and later matched by Wasim Akram.

## Consistent Form

This innings marked Farooq's second consecutive century, following an unbeaten 107 in the competition's opening round. His efforts helped his team, MIT Solutions, reach a total of 476 for four at the end of the day, with contributions from Atiq ur Rehman and Salman Khan Jnr.

Farooq is not new to the spotlight, having played for Lahore Qalandars in the 2026 PSL. His notable performance there included a 63-run innings against Rawalpindiz, featuring five sixes.
