## Accommodation Challenges for Indian Athletes

During the Aichi Nagoya Asian Games, Indian athletes faced accommodation issues, prompting a unique solution. Around 2,000 Indians residing in Nagoya have volunteered to host athletes if official arrangements fall through.

## Backup Plan Initiated

The Indian embassy coordinated with the local Indian community to prepare for potential accommodation shortfalls. This contingency plan emerged after some athletes, including those in badminton and shooting, were unexpectedly removed from the accommodation list.

## Three-Tier Support System

To prevent further issues, India's Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports implemented a three-tier support system. Officials are stationed at both the airport and the Athlete Welcome Centre to assist arriving athletes. The third tier involves the Indian community in Nagoya, ready to offer their homes if needed.

## Current Situation

Currently, all Indian athletes have secured accommodation, with 18 additional hotel rooms booked and plans for more. The Indian community remains a backup option, ensuring athletes have a place to stay if official arrangements encounter further problems.
