## Arrest in Kollam and Pathanamthitta

Kerala Police have apprehended a 33-year-old man accused of stalking and assaulting schoolgirls in the Kollam and Pathanamthitta districts. The arrest followed a detailed investigation involving footage from 400 CCTV cameras and a critical clue from a survivor.

## Investigation Details

The suspect, Lijo Joseph, who owns a poultry shop, was arrested by the Kollam Rural police's District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF) team. He faces multiple charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Joseph allegedly targeted girls traveling alone on isolated roads, linking him to around 12 incidents over several months.

## Identifying the Suspect

Joseph reportedly used a blue scooter, often obscuring its registration number with mud, and wore a helmet and face mask to avoid detection. He also used women's footwear to further disguise himself. A significant breakthrough came when a girl resisted an assault and noted Joseph's physical appearance and his habit of chewing betel leaves, which helped investigators narrow their search.

## Ongoing Investigation

The DANSAF team matched descriptions with CCTV footage and checked similar scooters registered in various districts. After continued surveillance, Joseph was located in Puthoor and arrested. The investigation is still ongoing, and the allegations against him have yet to be proven in court.
