## New Members Announced

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in India has been reconstituted with a new panel of 18 members. Notable additions include Bollywood actors Preity Zinta, Pankaj Tripathi, and Suniel Shetty, as well as filmmaker Priyadarshan. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on September 16, 2026.

## Diverse Panel

The reconstituted board brings together a diverse group of professionals from various fields such as cinema, television, music, literature, and theatre. Other members include actors Manoj Joshi, Roopali Ganguly, and Pallavi Joshi, filmmakers Abhishek Jain and Neela Madhab Panda, and Grammy-winning musician Ricky Kej.

## Tenure and Leadership

Members of the new board will serve for three years or until further notice. The board will operate under the leadership of CBFC chairperson Shashi Shekhar Vempati.

The CBFC is responsible for certifying films for public exhibition in India, ensuring they comply with the country's film-certification laws and guidelines. This reconstitution is part of the ongoing efforts to bring fresh perspectives into the film-certification process.
