## Overview of the Al Safa Street Project

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is undertaking a significant upgrade of Al Safa Street to alleviate traffic congestion. This project includes the construction of new bridges, tunnels, and additional lanes, aiming to reduce travel time from 12 minutes to just three minutes.

## Infrastructure Developments

The project spans a 1,500-meter stretch between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Wasl Street. It involves building two bridges and two tunnels, totaling 3,120 meters in length. These structures will help separate traffic directions and minimize stops at traffic signals.

A four-lane bridge, 1,005 meters long, will facilitate traffic from Al Wasl Street towards Sheikh Zayed Road and Financial Centre Street. Another two-lane bridge, 360 meters long, will serve traffic from Al Satwa Road. Additionally, two tunnels will be constructed: one 1,005 meters long for traffic from Sheikh Zayed Road, and another 750 meters long at the Al Wasl and Al Safa Street intersection.

## Traffic Flow Improvements

The project aims to enhance traffic flow by widening Al Safa Street from three to four lanes in each direction. Two lanes will allow free-flowing movement, while the other two will be controlled by signals. The new infrastructure will enable major traffic movements to bypass busy junctions, effectively doubling road capacity to 12,000 vehicles per hour.

## Construction Phase Adjustments

During construction, temporary road arrangements are in place to maintain traffic flow. Vehicles are being diverted onto newly constructed roads alongside the work zone. The Al Satwa Street and Al Multaqa Street intersection is also being reorganized, with additional lanes and U-turns added.

## Part of a Larger Plan

This initiative is part of a broader RTA strategy to improve road connectivity in the area, including upgrades to Al Wasl Street and Umm Suqeim Street. These efforts aim to enhance connections between major corridors like Sheikh Zayed Road and Emirates Road, ultimately improving overall traffic efficiency in Dubai.
