Sharjah and Kalba are set to host the first-ever Jashe and Sahnah Festival from September 24 to 27. This event will highlight the UAE's rich maritime food heritage, focusing on traditional fish products.

## Participants and Activities

The festival will feature over 65 local families and home-based fishing businesses. It is organized by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Kalba City Municipality. The event will take place in Al Samar neighborhood, covering a 4,800-square-meter area.

## Focus on Heritage

Jashe, a sun-dried fish, and Sahnah, a fermented fish condiment, are the main attractions. The festival aims to preserve these traditional practices while promoting economic and tourism opportunities.

## Competitions and Demonstrations

Attendees can enjoy live demonstrations of traditional fishing and fish-drying techniques. There will also be workshops for families and children. Three competitions will offer cash prizes for the best Sahnah product, the best family dish featuring Jashe and Sahnah, and the best products prepared by children.

## Economic and Cultural Impact

The festival provides a platform for producers to sell both traditional and innovative Jashe and Sahnah products. It also aims to educate younger generations about sustainable fishing practices and the responsible use of marine resources.
