Kanaf Centre leads UAE, Middle East with child forensic technology

## Advanced Forensic Technology

The Kanaf Centre in Sharjah has introduced a cutting-edge forensic technology, becoming the first in the UAE and the Middle East to do so. This system, known as the Safe Ultra System, enhances the detection of injuries and evidence in child protection cases that are not visible to the naked eye.

## Enhanced Detection Capabilities

The technology employs multispectral imaging to identify physical injuries such as bruises, contusions, and subdermal injuries that may have faded from view. It also detects body fluids relevant to criminal investigations, aiding medical teams in sample collection.

## Judicial Support and Child Protection

Dr. Mohammed Al Kaabi, head of the Judicial Department, emphasized the system's role in improving forensic documentation, which supports judicial processes by ensuring evidence integrity. This reduces the need for repeated examinations, minimizing psychological distress for children.

## Integrated Child Safety Framework

The technology is part of a broader initiative by the Child Safety Organisation to create a comprehensive child protection framework. This includes community awareness, risk prevention, and coordinated care involving health, social, and judicial authorities.

## Training and International Standards

Kanaf's forensic team has received specialized training to operate the system, aligning with international standards. This initiative aims to bolster national capabilities in child protection and forensic practices.
