## Stricter Lending Policies
Kuwaiti banks are implementing stricter lending criteria for expatriates due to concerns over job security and the ongoing Kuwaitisation initiative. This move aims to ensure that borrowers have stable employment throughout the loan repayment period.
## Focus on Job Security
Banks are now more selective, focusing on the stability of expatriates' jobs. Professions deemed secure, such as doctors, engineers, and IT professionals, are more likely to receive loans. Conversely, jobs affected by Kuwaitisation or restructuring, like certain teaching positions, face increased scrutiny.
## Importance of Employment History
Lenders are placing greater emphasis on factors like length of service, salary, and credit history. Employees with long service records and substantial end-of-service benefits are considered lower risk. Newer employees or those with lower qualifications may face stricter conditions.
## Loan Amounts and Requirements
Eligible borrowers can access combined consumer and housing loans up to KD95,000, depending on regulatory and bank conditions. For instance, a KD95,000 loan requires a salary of approximately KD2,750, with monthly payments around KD1,100.
## Employer Evaluation
Banks are also assessing employers' financial health and reputation. Employees of companies listed on Boursa Kuwait or those already approved by lenders may receive more favorable terms. High-value expatriates with significant assets continue to enjoy preferential treatment.
