Air Arabia-led consortium gets green light for new Saudi budget airline in Dammam

## New Airline Approved

A consortium led by Air Arabia has received approval to establish a new low-cost airline based in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) granted the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) after the airline met all necessary safety and operational standards.

## Expanding Air Connectivity

The new airline will operate from King Fahd International Airport and is part of Saudi Arabia's strategy to enhance its aviation sector. It plans to serve 81 destinations, including 24 domestic and 57 international routes, aiming to transport around 10 million passengers annually by 2030.

## Economic Impact

The initiative is expected to create over 2,400 direct jobs and boost tourism and trade in the Eastern Province. The consortium, which includes Air Arabia Group, Nesma Group, and KUN Holding Company, will have majority Saudi ownership.

## Strategic Importance

Captain Sulaiman bin Saleh Almuhaimedi of GACA highlighted the airline's role in increasing competition and improving the air transport market's performance. The project aligns with Saudi Arabia's goals to become a global logistics and aviation hub.
