UAE National Orchestra opens new season with three Emirati premieres

## New Season Highlights

The UAE National Orchestra is set to begin its second season with a special program featuring three new Emirati compositions. These works will be performed publicly for the first time in Abu Dhabi and Dubai this month.

## Emirati Compositions

The concert, titled "To This Land, We Belong," includes pieces by composers Khalid Nassir, Ali Kano, and Fayez Al Saeed. Each composition offers a unique perspective on the UAE's history and culture.

Khalid Nassir's "The Founder’s Journey" is a six-part piece inspired by the life and philosophy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Founding Father. It explores themes of departure, discovery, and return.

Ali Kano's "Homeland Melodies" is a concerto that blends traditional Emirati sounds with orchestral music, highlighting the country's landscapes and musical heritage.

Fayez Al Saeed's "Lightning, Thunder & Longing" is a suite for orchestra and choir, featuring poetry by Arif Al Khajah. It delves into themes of identity and belonging, bridging past memories with the present.

## Performance Details

The UAE National Orchestra and Choir, under conductor Ahmed Farag, will perform these premieres. The concert will last 90 minutes, including an intermission.

The first performance is scheduled for September 18, 2026, at The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi. The program will then be presented at Dubai Opera on September 20, 2026.

Tickets for the concerts range from Dh100 to Dh200 and can be purchased through the UAE National Orchestra's website.
