Paribartan Nepal, a 29-year-old chef residing in Ajman, UAE, witnessed his home in Nepal being engulfed by mud during the flash floods on August 26. The single-storey house, built with his savings, was buried under silt in the Nuwakot district.

## Excavation Efforts

Recent footage shows an excavator working to uncover the house, revealing only the front pillars and some rooms filled with mud. The road near his home has turned into a muddy track, with neighboring houses also affected.

## Salvaging Belongings

Paribartan and his family managed to recover a few items, including clothes and ID cards, but most possessions were destroyed. The search for valuables was challenging due to the extensive mud coverage.

## Temporary Shelter and Aid

Currently, Paribartan's parents are staying with relatives. Local authorities and NGOs are providing basic supplies, while government plans for temporary and permanent housing support are underway.

## Government Response

The Nepali government has announced a housing allowance for displaced families and is conducting surveys to assess damage. Temporary accommodations will be arranged based on family preferences.

The flash floods have resulted in significant loss, with over 1,300 fatalities and thousands missing. Paribartan's main concern is rebuilding his home amidst rising construction costs.
