Saudi Arabia's Heritage Commission has uncovered a mosque from the first century of the Islamic calendar at the Al Maallamah site in the Baha region. This significant find provides new insights into early Islamic architecture and religious practices in the Kingdom.

## Architectural Features

The mosque, constructed from dressed granite stones, showcases a simple yet precise design. It includes a mihrab, entrances, and a minaret, with walls measuring 16 meters north to south and 10 meters east to west. Adjacent stone rooms, likely used for social and commercial activities, feature storage areas and basins.

## Artefacts and Historical Context

Archaeologists discovered various artefacts such as soapstone fragments, pottery vessels, and stone tools, which offer a glimpse into the daily life and craftsmanship of the settlement's inhabitants. Al Maallamah, historically linked to gold, silver, and copper mining, dates back to pre-Islamic times and saw significant activity from the late sixth to ninth century AD.
