## New Agreement for Cultural Exchange

The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) has entered into a new partnership with a Russian cultural organization to enhance the presence of Arabic literature in Russia. This collaboration focuses on translating Arabic works into Russian and exchanging publishing rights.

## Memorandum of Understanding

The agreement was formalized during the Moscow International Book Fair on September 13, 2026. It involves the SBA and the Moscow-based "Directorate of International Book Exhibitions and Fairs." The aim is to foster long-term cooperation between the two countries in literary and publishing initiatives.

## Expanding Literary Horizons

The partnership will facilitate joint book fairs and literary events, encouraging participation from publishers and cultural institutions in both nations. It also aims to create new opportunities for translation and rights exchange, connecting authors, translators, and publishers.

## Cultural Bridges

Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of SBA, emphasized the role of books in bridging cultural gaps. He noted that both Arab and Russian cultures have rich literary traditions, and this agreement will introduce these works to new audiences.

## Ongoing Collaboration

Khoula Al Mujaini from SBA highlighted the importance of turning initial contacts at book fairs into lasting professional relationships. The agreement will support year-round programs and projects involving publishers and cultural institutions from both regions.

## Russian Engagement

Elena Grebeneva, representing the Russian organization, acknowledged Sharjah's significant cultural contributions. The agreement will enhance joint events and initiatives, allowing Russian and Arab audiences to explore each other's literary works. The MoU encourages direct translation projects and increased participation in each other's book fairs.
