## DEWA's Recycling Initiative

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) employees recycled 118,967 plastic bottles and aluminum cans in the first half of 2026. This effort is part of DEWA's ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

## Smart Recycling Machines

The containers were collected using smart recycling machines located in various DEWA buildings. These machines are linked to DEWA's Smart Office application, allowing employees to earn points for each item recycled. These points make them eligible for monthly prize draws.

## Long-term Impact

Since the initiative's launch in October 2022, over 1.41 million containers have been recycled, preventing more than 19.83 tonnes of waste from reaching landfills. This program supports Dubai's Integrated Waste Management Strategy 2021–2041, which aims to innovate in waste management and recycling.

## Alignment with Broader Strategies

The initiative also aligns with DEWA's Circular Economy Strategy, focusing on circular design, renewable energy, and improved resource efficiency. It emphasizes the importance of circular partnerships and sustainable practices across DEWA's value chain.

## Sustainability Culture

DEWA's efforts have been reflected in its Sustainability Culture Index score of 92.33% for 2025, indicating high employee awareness and integration of sustainability principles in daily operations.
