## Businessman Seeks Witness Status

Santu Gangopadhyay, a businessman from Kolkata, has offered to become a state witness in the West Bengal cash-for-school-job scam. He has approached the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with this request, citing a change in government as a reason for his newfound confidence to speak out.

## Allegations Against Trinamool Leader

Gangopadhyay, previously arrested and now out on bail, was closely associated with former West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee. In his letter to the CBI, he claims that he and another accused, Kuntal Ghosh, delivered money to a senior Trinamool Congress leader. They allegedly faced pressure to collect Rs50 million from candidates seeking teaching positions.

## Concerns for Safety

Despite the change in government, Gangopadhyay reports receiving threats related to the scam. He has requested protection for himself and his family, fearing for their safety.
