199th Manchester derby highlights Premier League weekend fixtures

## Anticipation Builds for Manchester Derby

The 199th Manchester derby is set to captivate football fans this weekend as Manchester United hosts Manchester City at Old Trafford. The match is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, with a kickoff at 7:30 pm UAE time.

## Manchester United's Challenges

Manchester United enters the derby with a mixed start to their season. After a surprising loss to Hull City, they bounced back with a win over Ipswich Town and a draw against Everton. Defensive issues have been a concern, with six goals conceded in three matches. Manager Michael Carrick, who previously led United to a derby win, will aim to secure consecutive victories against City, a feat not achieved since 2009.

## City's Strong Start Under New Management

Under new manager Enzo Maresca, Manchester City has shown resilience, recovering from a Community Shield defeat to win their first four matches. Despite Erling Haaland's impressive goal-scoring form, City's defense has shown vulnerabilities. The team aims to maintain the high standards set during Pep Guardiola's tenure, which included six Premier League titles.

## Historical Context and Key Players

Historically, United leads the derby record with 81 wins to City's 62. Erling Haaland, a key player for City, has scored eight goals against United, trailing only Wayne Rooney and Joe Hayes in derby goals. Sunday's match promises to be a thrilling encounter, with both teams showcasing strong attacking capabilities.
