Mysterious ‘Boogeyman Nebula’ photographed from Abu Dhabi skies in major astronomy milestone

## Cosmic Discovery in Abu Dhabi

Astronomers in the UAE have achieved a significant milestone by capturing an image of the elusive "Boogeyman Nebula" from the Abu Dhabi desert. This rare cosmic cloud, officially known as LDN 1622, was photographed by the Al Khatm Astronomical Observatory after a month of dedicated observation and data processing.

## Unique Features of the Nebula

The nebula is composed of gas and cosmic dust, forming a shadowy shape that resembles a human figure, reminiscent of the mythical "Boogeyman" in Western folklore. It is located within the Orion constellation, approximately 1,500 light years from Earth. Classified as a dark nebula, its dense clouds obscure the light from stars behind it, creating a stark contrast against the bright red hydrogen gas of Barnard’s Loop.

## Additional Observations

In addition to the main nebula, the image also highlights a smaller reflection nebula, vdB 62, situated near the "Boogeyman's" head. This nebula does not emit its own light but reflects the light of a nearby star, HD 288313, illuminating the surrounding dust.
