Dubai records sharp drop in passenger transport violations

## Increased Inspections and Compliance

In the first half of 2026, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) conducted over 1.6 million inspections in the passenger transport sector, marking an increase from the previous year's 1.5 million. This surge in inspections has coincided with a notable drop in violations, indicating improved compliance among transport operators and passengers.

## Decline in Violations

The RTA recorded approximately 30,000 violations in the first six months of 2026, a 21% decrease from the 38,000 violations noted during the same period in 2025. This improvement is attributed to intensified field inspections and strategic partnerships aimed at ensuring adherence to regulations.

## Crackdown on Illegal Transport

Joint efforts with Dubai Police and other agencies resulted in a 57% reduction in violations related to unlicensed passenger transport, with 340 cases recorded compared to 797 in the previous year. Additionally, 244 vehicles were impounded, reflecting a 48% decrease from the prior year.

## Focus on School and Public Transport

The RTA conducted over 8,000 inspections in the school transport sector, resulting in 654 violations, a 15% reduction from the previous year. Public transport inspections exceeded 1.2 million, with more than 28,000 violations recorded, achieving a compliance rate of 97.8%.

## Use of Smart Data

The RTA is employing smart data analysis to target inspection areas more effectively, enhancing passenger safety and reducing illegal activities across Dubai's transport network.
