EGA completes 80% acquisition of Italian aluminium recycler Eco Green

## EGA Expands Recycling Capacity

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has finalized the acquisition of an 80% stake in Eco Green, an Italian aluminium recycling company. This strategic move boosts EGA's global recycling capacity to over 400,000 tonnes annually. The acquisition, initially announced in April, has now received all necessary regulatory approvals.

## Eco Green's Role in EGA's Expansion

Eco Green, founded by the Scappini family in 1993, will be rebranded as EGA Eco Green. The family will retain a minority share and continue managing the company. Eco Green operates two plants in northeast Italy, handling over 70,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap annually. The company is expanding its Nogara facility to increase its recycled aluminium capacity by 20,000 tonnes by December 2026.

## EGA's Global Recycling Network

EGA's acquisition of Eco Green enhances its presence in Europe, a key market for recycled aluminium. The company also operates in the UAE, the US, and Germany, with ongoing expansions in these regions. EGA's German operations are increasing their scrap sorting and melting capacities, while in the US, EGA Spectro Alloys is expanding its production capabilities. In the UAE, the Al Taweelah plant is ramping up its recycling output.

## Industry Outlook

The aluminium recycling industry is expected to grow significantly, with recycled metal projected to meet half of global demand by 2040. EGA's strategic acquisitions and expansions position it well to capitalize on this trend, particularly in Europe, the third-largest market for recycled aluminium after the US and China.
