BCCI announces replacement for Harshit Rana ahead of 2026 Asian Games

## BCCI Announces Squad Changes

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named Yash Thakur as the replacement for Harshit Rana in the upcoming T20 series against Afghanistan and the 2026 Asian Games. Rana, who was initially set to participate, has been sidelined due to a rectus femoris strain sustained during a match simulation on September 7.

## Yash Thakur's Recent Performance

Yash Thakur, who recently debuted in T20 internationals during India's tour of Zimbabwe, has been selected to fill the void left by Rana. The 27-year-old bowler has taken 81 wickets in 50 matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and plays for Punjab Kings in the IPL.

## Squad Updates

In addition to Thakur's inclusion, the BCCI confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will be part of the squad, dispelling earlier uncertainties about his participation. The team, led by Shreyas Iyer with Tilak Verma as vice-captain, will first face Afghanistan in a three-match T20 series before heading to Japan to defend their Gold Medal at the Asian Games.
