## Incident at Portuguese Airport

Former Formula 1 executive Bernie Ecclestone, aged 95, was briefly detained at Tires Airport near Lisbon. Authorities discovered a shotgun in his luggage, for which he did not have the necessary permit. Ecclestone explained he brought the firearm from Switzerland for pigeon shooting.

## Previous Similar Incident

This is not Ecclestone's first encounter with airport authorities over weapons. In May 2022, he was stopped at Brazil's Viracopos Airport with a .32-caliber pistol. On that occasion, he paid a fine and was allowed to leave.

## Ecclestone's F1 Legacy

Ecclestone led Formula 1 from 1987 to 2017, transforming it into a global spectacle by securing TV rights. Despite stepping down, he remains a regular at races, splitting his time between homes in Switzerland and Portugal.
