Dubai RTA steps up night-time road maintenance, rehabilitation

## Night-Time Operations

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is focusing on night-time hours to conduct road maintenance, aiming to minimize disruption for daytime commuters. This strategy helps maintain a 95% "excellent" rating for the city's road network.

## Maintenance Activities

The RTA's night operations include asphalt repairs, pavement rehabilitation, and upkeep of bridges, tunnels, and drainage systems. Street lighting, traffic signals, signage, and safety barriers are also part of the maintenance efforts.

## 2026 Preventive Plan

As part of its 2026 plan, the RTA has rehabilitated 17 kilometers of asphalt across nine major streets and six districts by June. This includes highways, residential areas, and cycling tracks. Pavement maintenance is set to cover 90,000 square meters this year, an increase from 88,000 square meters in 2025.

## Smart Systems and Safety

Maintenance priorities are determined using smart diagnostic systems, automated data analysis, and field inspections. Traffic management plans, including diversions and safety measures, ensure all lanes are open before morning traffic peaks. This approach accelerates infrastructure upgrades while enhancing safety and efficiency.
