## Introduction
Starting a business in Dubai involves various costs, with the business licence being a significant component. To assist prospective entrepreneurs, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism offers a free online Business Cost Calculator through the Invest in Dubai platform.
## Using the Business Cost Calculator
To estimate your business licence fees, visit the Invest in Dubai website and access the 'Cost Calculator'. Begin by selecting your business activity from a drop-down menu, which lists available licence types. Next, input details about your business partners, including their nationality, and choose the appropriate legal structure for your company, such as an LLC or PJSC.
## Calculating Fees
After entering the necessary information, the calculator will display potential business licence options and their estimated costs. If your business requires a physical office, you may need to provide the annual rent, as five percent of this amount is included in the licence fee. For example, renting an office in Business Bay for Dh140,000 annually could result in a licence cost of approximately Dh15,000.
## Licence Validity and Additional Costs
The estimated cost covers a one-year period, with the same amount due for annual renewal, subject to changes in fees. It's important to note that the calculator provides only an estimate of the licence cost. Additional expenses, such as visa fees and operational costs, should be considered when budgeting for your business setup in Dubai.
