## High-Profile Drug Case Verdict
A Cairo court has sentenced Sarah Khalifa, a well-known TV producer, to death for her involvement in a significant drug trafficking operation. The case, which has garnered widespread attention, involved a network accused of manufacturing and distributing synthetic narcotics.
## Details of the Case
The court's decision also included death sentences for 11 other individuals, while nine defendants received life imprisonment. Seven were acquitted, making a total of 28 people involved in the trial. The group was accused of importing materials to produce drugs in Egypt, with charges also including illegal possession of firearms.
## Role of Sarah Khalifa
Investigations revealed that Khalifa allegedly financed the drug operation and traveled abroad to meet with key figures in the network. Authorities seized over 750 kilograms of synthetic drugs and related manufacturing equipment during the investigation.
## Legal Proceedings
Before the death sentences were issued, the cases were referred to Egypt’s Grand Mufti for a religious opinion, a necessary step in the legal process. The case has been labeled by Egyptian media as the "major drugs case."
