## Safety Campaign for E-Scooter Riders
Dubai Police have launched a safety campaign targeting e-scooter users, warning of a Dh300 fine for unsafe riding practices. The initiative, called "Ride Safely," aims to promote adherence to traffic rules and enhance road safety.
## Key Safety Guidelines
Riders are encouraged to wear helmets and protective gear, including reflective clothing, to increase visibility. They must stick to designated e-scooter lanes and avoid pedestrian and sports areas to prevent accidents.
## Restrictions on Usage
The police emphasize that e-scooters should only carry one person at a time. Using mobile phones or headphones while riding is discouraged to maintain awareness of surroundings.
## Penalties for Violations
A fine of Dh300 will be imposed for riding that endangers the rider or others. This includes carrying passengers, riding outside designated lanes, and ignoring safety measures.
## Enforcement and Confiscations
In a crackdown on violations, Dubai Police have confiscated over 13,000 e-scooters this year. Common infractions include riding against traffic, using pavements, and crossing roads unsafely.
