## Fatal Crash on NH-66

Eight engineering students from Tamil Nadu lost their lives in a tragic accident on National Highway 66 in Kerala's Thrissur district. The incident occurred around midnight on Friday when their car collided with a stationary lorry near Panambikkunnu Centre, where road widening work is ongoing.

## Rescue Efforts

Local residents and emergency services responded quickly to the scene. Rescue teams had to cut through the mangled wreckage to reach the students. Seven of them died on the spot, while the eighth succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

## Investigation Underway

The victims were identified as students from PSM Engineering College in Dindigul, Tamil Nadu. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash, which happened near a temporary diversion set up for construction work on the highway.

## Victims Identified

Five of the deceased have been named: Vishwa, Surya, Yuvasanjith, Santhosh, and Prasanna, all aged 20. Authorities are working to identify the remaining victims and notify their families.
