Abu Dhabi Police warn against stopping in road after series of collisions

## Police Alert on Road Safety

Abu Dhabi Police have issued a warning to drivers about the dangers of stopping in active traffic lanes. This follows a series of collisions caused by distracted driving and vehicles halting in the middle of the road.

## Risks of Distracted Driving

The Traffic and Security Patrols Directorate emphasized that distracted driving, which includes stopping on the road, poses significant risks. Drivers are advised to continue to the nearest safe location if possible, rather than stopping in traffic.

## Emergency Protocols

In cases where a vehicle cannot be moved, motorists should immediately contact the Command and Control Centre by dialing 999 for assistance. This allows authorities to respond quickly, reducing accident risks and maintaining traffic flow.

## Legal Consequences

Under UAE traffic regulations, distracted driving incurs a fine of Dh800 and four traffic points. Police stress the importance of staying focused and alert to anticipate hazards and make timely decisions.
