First woman joins Ram Temple Trust after surprise WhatsApp offer

## Historic Appointment

Dr. Nirmala Yadav, a 66-year-old retired college principal, has become the first woman to join the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Her appointment came as a surprise when she received a WhatsApp message on September 2, inviting her to be part of the Trust overseeing the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

## Academic and Administrative Experience

Dr. Yadav brings over two decades of experience in academia and administration. She holds postgraduate degrees in Hindi and Sanskrit, along with a PhD. Her career includes 19 years as a college principal and 15 years on a university executive council. Additionally, she has been involved with an RSS-affiliated teachers’ organization.

## Trust Restructuring

The Trust is undergoing significant restructuring, with Dr. Yadav's appointment being part of a three-member expansion. Other new members include Madan Mohan Pandey, an advocate from Ayodhya, and Mahesh Bhagchandka, a businessman from Delhi. The changes come amid scrutiny over alleged financial irregularities related to temple donations.

## New Leadership

Retired Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra has been appointed as the Trust's first full-time CEO. Mishra, who was selected from over 5,500 applicants, previously served as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Indian Air Force’s Western Air Command. Govind Dev Giri has also been appointed as the full-time general secretary, and Bhagchandka as treasurer.
