Watch: Nepali expat in UAE loses home he built 'brick by brick' in flash floods

## A Heartbreaking Loss

Paribartan Nepal, a 29-year-old chef working in Ajman, UAE, has suffered a devastating loss as flash floods in Nepal destroyed the home he painstakingly built over several years. The single-storey house, located in Belkotgadhi-7, Nuwakot, was buried under mud and debris on August 26, along with the family’s farmland.

## Years of Hard Work

Since moving to the UAE in 2017, Paribartan had been sending money back home to construct the house, brick by brick. His sister, who is studying and working in Japan, also contributed to the family’s efforts. The house was finally completed recently, only to be swept away in minutes by the flood.

## Family's Narrow Escape

Fortunately, Paribartan’s parents, who were at home during the flood, managed to escape after being warned of the impending danger. They are currently staying with relatives nearby. Despite the loss of their home and farmland, Paribartan is grateful for his parents' safety.

## Future Uncertain

The family is now contemplating their next steps, unsure if they can rebuild on the same land. Paribartan plans to visit Nepal on September 7 for a month to assess the situation and support his family. He acknowledges that many others in the region are facing similar hardships, emphasizing that his story is just one among many.
