Abu Dhabi cat rescue: How two women saved over 70 cats in Al Sideirah — ‘They had nowhere else to go’

## Rescue Mission in Al Sideirah

Maria Sanchez and her friend Aira undertook a significant rescue operation in Al Sideirah, Abu Dhabi, saving over 70 stray cats from a demolition site. The mission began after Maria learned about the urgent need to relocate the cats due to impending demolition.

## Coordinated Efforts

Realizing the scale of the task, Maria enlisted Aira's help. Together, they worked tirelessly, often in extreme summer heat, to capture the cats in manageable groups. They transported each batch to Pet Avenue Veterinary Clinic in JVC for treatment.

## Treatment and Release

At the clinic, the cats underwent a Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) process, thanks to the efforts of Dr. Hesham and his team. After treatment, Maria and Aira returned the cats to safer locations away from the demolition site.

## Exhausting Routine

The rescue involved long hours and repeated trips, with Maria often working from morning until afternoon. Despite the physical and mental toll, the women persevered, driven by the urgency of the situation.

## Successful Outcome

Today, the cats are safe, and Maria expresses gratitude to Aira and the veterinary team for their support. The successful rescue operation has given these cats a new lease on life, away from the dangers of the demolition site.
