Red suitcase, dead woman: Police trace a 2,000km murder trail

## Discovery of a Red Suitcase

A red suitcase found on the Tamil Nadu Express in Agra on August 5 sparked a complex murder investigation. Passengers reported a foul odor, leading police to discover the dismembered body of a woman inside.

## Victim Identified

The victim was identified as 38-year-old Hayathun Nisha from Odisha, who lived in Guduvanchery, near Chennai. She worked at a private company and was reportedly involved with a man named Manik Uddin Laskar.

## Investigation and Arrests

Authorities traced the suitcase's journey using over 350 CCTV recordings. Footage showed a man and woman carrying the suitcase at Chennai Central station. The investigation led police to a rented house in Guduvanchery, where more human remains were found.

## Suspects Apprehended

The primary suspects, Manik Uddin Laskar and his wife Bhagabati Majhi, were arrested in Manipur's Jiribam district. Laskar, originally from Assam, and Majhi from Odisha, were believed to have fled after the murder.

## Motive and Case Progress

Police suspect the murder was linked to Nisha's insistence on marriage, which strained her relationship with Laskar. The case, spanning over 2,000 kilometers, highlights the extensive efforts by multiple police forces to solve the crime.
