## Festival Success
The Sharjah Al Maleh and Fishing Festival concluded with impressive sales of over Dh1.4 million, marking a 30% increase in visitor numbers compared to the previous year. This four-day event took place at Al Hisn Island in Dibba Al Hisn and was organized by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with Dibba Al Hisn City Municipality.
## Exhibitors and Activities
The festival featured more than 80 exhibitors, including over 50 productive families and home-based businesses, 10 companies specializing in fishing equipment, and around 20 government and private entities. The event aimed to promote traditional maritime industries while preserving the UAE's rich maritime heritage.
## Economic and Cultural Impact
Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of SCCI, highlighted the festival's role in fostering heritage-based economic development in Sharjah’s Eastern Region. The event provided a platform for productive families and maritime professionals to showcase their products and form partnerships with private-sector companies.
## Traditional and Modern Offerings
Visitors enjoyed a variety of traditional salted and dried fish, handicrafts, and locally grown produce. The festival also included demonstrations of boatbuilding, sail-making, and fishing-net production, alongside workshops on traditional pottery, fish salting, and pearl diving. Additionally, modern marine businesses displayed navigation systems, engines, and fishing equipment.
## Educational and Recreational Activities
The festival's program featured sessions on sustainable fishing and fisheries conservation, as well as competitions, family activities, and traditional maritime performances, offering a blend of education and entertainment for attendees.
