R Ashwin to replace Stephen Fleming as CSK coach? Here is what he said

## Ashwin's Response to CSK Coaching Speculation

As Chennai Super Kings (CSK) search for a new head coach for IPL 2027, R Ashwin has addressed rumors linking him to the position. The team is looking to fill the role after parting ways with Stephen Fleming, who has moved on to coach England.

Ashwin, currently playing in the European T20 Premier League, discussed the possibility with former teammate Matthew Hayden. When asked about the coaching role, Ashwin expressed uncertainty about taking on such a significant challenge at this point in his career.

## Ashwin's Connection with CSK

Ashwin has a long history with CSK, having played for the team from 2008 to 2015 and returning in 2025. Despite this connection, he has no major coaching experience and is still active in international leagues, making the transition to coaching a complex decision.

## Other Potential Candidates

Hayden mentioned that CSK had approached Dinesh Karthik and Rahul Dravid for the coaching position, but neither seems likely to take the job. For now, Ashwin appears content to remain a player rather than stepping into a coaching role.
