Jordanian toddler heads to Dubai for $2.4m treatment funded by Sheikh Mohammed

## Journey to Dubai

A 16-month-old girl from Jordan, Katia Abu Al Saud, has traveled to Dubai for a crucial medical procedure. She suffers from spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a rare genetic disorder that leads to muscle weakness.

## Generous Support

The entire cost of her $2.4 million treatment is being covered by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE. This financial support came after Katia's family publicly sought help due to the unavailability of the treatment in Jordan.

## Treatment Details

Katia is set to receive Zolgensma, a gene therapy designed for young children with SMA, at Al Jalila Children’s Hospital in Dubai. This treatment offers hope for her condition, which had previously caused significant concern for her family.

## Family's Gratitude

Katia's mother, Nour Roudnahal, expressed her gratitude on social media, thanking Sheikh Mohammed for his intervention. Her father, Omar Abu Al Saud, mentioned that this support has renewed their hope after a prolonged period of uncertainty.
