## New Academic Year Begins
Sharjah's private education sector is set to commence the new school term with over 204,000 students enrolled. This year, six new private schools will open, increasing the total number of licensed private schools in the emirate to 135. These new institutions include three schools offering the Indian curriculum and three following the American curriculum.
## Expansion in Early Education
In addition to new schools, the emirate has licensed seven new nurseries, bringing the total to 161. Five new early childhood centers have also been introduced, reflecting efforts to expand educational options for younger children.
## Preparations and Inspections
Ahead of the new term, the Sharjah Private Education Authority conducted 132 inspections to ensure schools meet educational and operational standards. Additionally, 2,737 school buses have been cleared for operation, adhering to approved safety protocols.
## Teacher Training and Recruitment
The authority has emphasized staff development, delivering 321 training courses to enhance the skills of teaching and administrative staff. Furthermore, 114 Emirati teachers have been recruited through the "Proud to Be a Teacher" initiative, aimed at increasing national representation in classrooms.
## Strengthening School-Family Ties
Dr. Muhadditha Yahya Al Hashimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Private Education Authority, highlighted the "My School, My Family" campaign, which seeks to foster stronger relationships between schools and families. The initiative encourages collaboration to support students' academic and personal growth.
## Diverse School Calendars
While most Sharjah private schools start the new term on August 31, those following Indian and Pakistani calendars began their academic year on March 30. This variation means the total student count includes those who have already resumed classes earlier in the year.
