## Floods in Rasuwa and Nuwakot

Severe flooding in Nepal's Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts has left 934 workers from 11 hydropower projects unaccounted for. The floods, triggered by a sudden surge in the Bhote Koshi River on August 26, have caused significant damage to infrastructure, including hydropower facilities.

## Impact on Hydropower Projects

The Independent Power Producers' Association, Nepal (IPPAN) reported that 730 workers from six projects in Rasuwa and 204 from five projects in Nuwakot are missing. The Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project, still under construction, has the highest number of missing workers, with 576 individuals uncontactable. This project is being developed by the Nepal Water and Energy Development Company, which includes international and local partners.

## Other Affected Projects

The Upper Trishuli-3B Hydropower Project in Nuwakot has 158 missing workers, while the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project reported 93 missing. The remaining 107 missing workers are linked to eight other projects, some operational and others under construction.

## Broader Impact and Response

The floods have affected a total of 13 hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 675.6 MW. As of the latest reports, 626 bodies have been recovered, and 2,426 people remain out of contact. The disaster has also damaged roads, bridges, and other critical infrastructure in the region.
