## Family Missing During Pilgrimage
An Australian family of Malayali origin has gone missing amid severe flooding in Nepal. The family, originally from Ponnani, includes Sreedharan Iyer, his wife Lakshmi, and their sons Rishab and Rudra. They were on a pilgrimage to Manasarovar when communication with relatives was lost.
## Last Known Location
The family had traveled from Sydney to Kathmandu on August 21 before heading to Rasuwa, a region heavily impacted by the floods. Their last contact with relatives was from this area. Relatives have since traveled to Nepal to assist in the search efforts.
## Search and Rescue Efforts
Local authorities and rescue teams are actively searching for the family. There are indications they may have moved to a safer location before the floods hit. The hotel they stayed at is reportedly intact, and they might have left for Kathmandu after receiving a flood warning.
## Wider Impact of the Floods
The floods have resulted in at least 626 deaths in Nepal and seven in Tibet, with nearly 2,500 people still missing. Over 93,000 individuals have been affected, and rescue operations are ongoing in areas with damaged infrastructure. The Australian High Commission is involved in the search for the missing family.
