## New Partnership for Disaster Preparedness

The UAE Aid Agency and the UAE Space Agency have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at improving disaster response capabilities in West Africa. This collaboration focuses on utilizing space-based data and technologies to enhance crisis management.

## Training for Specialists

As part of the agreement, around 30 specialists from disaster management organizations will undergo training. They will learn to use Earth observation and geographic information systems, as well as tools from the International Charter: Space and Major Disasters. This training is expected to enable quicker disaster impact assessments and more effective responses.

## Agreement Details

The partnership was formalized during the 22nd Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition (DIHAD 2026). Key figures involved in the signing were Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, and Eng. Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency.

## Goals and Implementation

The initiative aims to integrate advanced data tools into humanitarian efforts, allowing for better risk assessment and faster recovery for affected communities. The UAE Space Agency will work with international partners, including the European Space Agency and Ghana’s National Disaster Management Organisation, to implement the program. Participants will receive hands-on training in using satellite imagery and data analysis tools, enhancing their ability to make informed decisions during crises.
