Saudi Arabia issues red alerts as heavy rain, flash floods threaten several regions

## Severe Weather Warnings in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has issued red weather alerts as heavy rain, thunderstorms, and flash floods are expected to impact several regions. The National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) forecasts that areas such as Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, Mecca, and Medina will experience moderate to heavy thunderstorms.

## Potential for Flash Floods and Hail

The anticipated downpours could lead to flash floods and are likely to be accompanied by hail and strong winds, which may stir up dust and sand. Specific areas in the Mecca region, including Taif, Al Kamil, and Adham, are under red alerts for heavy rain.

## Temperature and Visibility Concerns

Despite the unstable weather, temperatures are expected to remain high, with Medina potentially reaching 47°C. Other areas like Dammam, Riyadh, and Buraidah are also forecasted to experience temperatures above 45°C. Additionally, fog may form overnight in eastern coastal areas, reducing visibility.

## Broader Weather Impact

Orange alerts for moderate rain have been issued for parts of the Madinah region, while yellow alerts for light rain and blowing dust are in place for areas like Rabigh and Jeddah. Rain-bearing thunderclouds and active winds could also affect the Northern Borders, Jazan, and parts of the Eastern Province and Riyadh region.
