Frenchman arrested in Italy with anti-tank missiles in van

## Arrest at Bari Port

A 46-year-old Frenchman, Regis Normand, was apprehended in Italy on charges of arms trafficking. The arrest occurred in June at the Bari port, where police discovered three Akeron anti-tank missiles and other military gear in his van.

## Discovery and Investigation

The van was inspected after arriving from Patras, Greece. Authorities found the missiles disguised as NATO training equipment, including a training missile without a warhead and a launch tube. Normand claimed the missiles were repaired in Crete and were being returned to their manufacturer, MBDA France.

## Legal and Company Response

Prosecutors noted the absence of permits for transporting the weapons and inconsistencies in the provided documents. MBDA France, the missile manufacturer, has not commented on the situation. Further investigations have been ordered to clarify the circumstances surrounding the transport of these weapons.
