## US Peace Board's Warning
The US-led board overseeing the Gaza peace process has issued a warning to Hamas regarding the flying of kites. This comes after Israel threatened military retaliation. An anonymous official from President Donald Trump's "Board of Peace" emphasized that all militant activities, including kite flying, must cease. The board also urged Israel to adhere to the ceasefire, stating that military actions should only respond to genuine threats.
## Israeli Response
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that Israel will intensify operations in Gaza if Hamas continues to launch kites, drones, or balloons. This warning follows reports of kites found across the Gaza border in southern Israel, reminiscent of past incendiary kite attacks.
## Hamas and UN Reactions
Hamas political bureau member Basem Naim expressed outrage at the board's warning, criticizing the characterization of children's kite flying as militant activity. The United Nations also condemned Israel's threats, with a spokesperson calling the situation "outrageous."
## Background and Current Situation
The Board of Peace was established by Trump to monitor a ceasefire declared in October amid ongoing conflict in Gaza. Despite the ceasefire, Israel has continued military actions, resulting in numerous Palestinian casualties. Recently, Gaza authorities reported that Israeli strikes killed at least five people, including two children.
Netanyahu, facing upcoming elections, has rejected the latest phase of the Gaza peace plan, expressing doubts over Hamas's commitment to disarm. He has called for a US general to oversee the disarmament process. In response, the Board of Peace assured Netanyahu that Israeli forces could remain in Gaza until Hamas is fully demilitarized, despite earlier calls for a phased withdrawal.
