Narrated by the voice of Mufasa, Lion is Nat Geo's new documentary following a real lion cub for four years

## A New Documentary Experience

"Lion," a four-part docuseries from National Geographic, offers an intimate look at the life of a lion cub named Kio over four years in Kenya's Maasai Mara. Narrated by O.J. Lynch, known for his role as Mufasa in "The Lion King" stage production, the series captures Kio's transformation from a vulnerable cub to a pride leader.

## Behind the Scenes

The production team, including Jon Favreau and Hans Zimmer, spent over 1,400 days filming, making it the first documentary to follow a single cub into adulthood. The crew, which included local Kenyan filmmakers, conducted 52 shoots, documenting the lives of up to 50 lions.

## Kio's Journey

Kio's story is marked by challenges such as encounters with buffalo, hyenas, and fires, as well as experiences of exile and loss. His bond with his mother plays a crucial role in his survival and eventual rise within the pride.

## Musical Score

Hans Zimmer, along with Lebo M. and Andrew Christie, composed the series' score, incorporating sounds from the Maasai Mara, including local singers and traditional instruments. The soundtrack was released on August 21.

## Streaming Availability

"Lion" is available for streaming in the UAE on Disney+ and in India on JioHotstar, offering viewers a dramatic and authentic portrayal of a lion's life in the wild.
