## High-Level Discussions in Beijing
India's National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, is in Beijing for significant discussions regarding the ongoing border issues between India and China. This visit comes as both nations prepare for the upcoming BRICS summit, which India hopes will see the participation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
## Meetings with Chinese Officials
During his two-day visit, Doval is scheduled to meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Vice President Han Zheng. These meetings aim to address the longstanding border disputes in the Himalayan region, which have been a point of contention since a deadly clash in 2020.
## Focus on Peace and Stability
The discussions are expected to focus on maintaining peace and stability along the 3,500-kilometer border shared by the two countries. Both sides are committed to continuing in-depth communication to uphold the consensus reached by their leaders.
## Context of the BRICS Summit
The BRICS summit, scheduled for September 12-13 in India, will address various global issues, including trade and geopolitical shifts. The forum, which began in 2009, includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, and has expanded to include other emerging economies seeking a greater role in global governance.
