## Saransh Jain's Test Debut
Saransh Jain, a 33-year-old all-rounder from Madhya Pradesh, has been awarded his first Test cap for India in the second match against Sri Lanka in Colombo. This opportunity arose after Kuldeep Yadav was sidelined due to an infection.
## Domestic Success
Jain's consistent performances in domestic cricket have been pivotal in his selection. He has excelled as both a left-handed batter and a right-arm off-spinner. His recent form was highlighted during India A's tour of Sri Lanka, where he took six wickets and scored an unbeaten 70 in the second unofficial Test.
## Impressive Record
In the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season, Jain was one of Madhya Pradesh's standout players, scoring 518 runs and taking 30 wickets. His overall first-class career includes 2,223 runs and 188 wickets, showcasing his effectiveness in the longer format.
## Background and Impact
Born to former first-class cricketer Subodh Jain, Saransh made his Ranji debut in 2014. His rise in domestic cricket since 2022 has now earned him a spot in the national team. India captain Shubman Gill chose to bat first in Colombo, confident in the team's ability to capitalize on the conditions.
