Earlier this month, a similar bus explosion in Jaramana injured 14 people. In July, two blasts near a hotel in Damascus, where French President Emmanuel Macron had been staying, resulted in one death and 36 injuries. Those responsible for the July attack were later arrested and identified as members of the Islamic State group.
