UAE-Russia Trade in Services and Investment Agreement enters into force

## Agreement Enters Into Force

The Trade in Services and Investment Agreement (TISIA) between the United Arab Emirates and Russia has officially come into effect. This marks a significant step in enhancing economic relations between the two nations.

## Key Features of the Agreement

The TISIA aims to improve market access for service exports and strengthen investor protections. It also seeks to create new opportunities for collaboration in high-growth sectors such as fintech, healthcare, transport, logistics, and professional services.

## Background and Signing

The agreement was signed on August 8, 2025, in Moscow during a visit by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It complements an existing Economic Partnership Agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union, which focuses on trade in goods.

## Economic Impact

The UAE-Russia trade relationship has seen rapid growth, with non-oil trade reaching $20.4 billion in 2025, a significant increase from previous years. This agreement is expected to further deepen economic ties and drive sustainable growth.

## Broader Economic Strategy

The TISIA is part of the UAE's Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement program, which aims to foster open, rules-based trade and create new business opportunities globally. Since its inception in 2021, the program has established numerous agreements with countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
