## Expanding Participation and Venues

The Dubai Mallathon, a community sports initiative, has seen over 100,000 participants record more than 220 million steps in its second edition. Launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the event has expanded to include new venues due to growing interest. Participants include families, senior citizens, and People of Determination, alongside government and private sector entities.

## New Locations and Activities

Gate Avenue at DIFC joined the initiative on August 1, with Ibn Battuta Mall following on August 17. Dubai International Airport is also participating, hosting events on Fridays throughout August. Activities run daily from 6am to 10am at eight locations, including Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates, offering air-conditioned walking and running tracks.

## Ministerial Support and Community Engagement

Dr Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, participated in a running session at Dubai Mall, highlighting the importance of physical activity for quality of life. He emphasized the role of such initiatives in fostering community partnerships and promoting healthy habits.

## Free Participation and Competitions

The event includes weekend sporting competitions with prizes, and participation is free, requiring no advance registration. Participants can collect wristbands at any of the eight malls, which also provide discounts at select shops and eateries.

## Supporting Dubai's Strategic Goals

Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, noted the initiative's success in making sports accessible to all. The Mallathon supports Dubai Social Agenda 33, the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033, and the Year of Family 2026. The first edition set a Guinness World Record for the Most Runners in a Mall Run Event, a benchmark the current edition aims to surpass.
