## New Pension Rules for Part-Time Workers
The UAE's General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) has introduced new regulations to extend pension and social insurance benefits to Emiratis working part-time in both public and private sectors. This initiative aims to accommodate employees with flexible work schedules, ensuring they receive proportional pension benefits based on their actual working hours.
## Coverage Details
Under the new system, Emiratis working between eight and 32 hours a week, or one to four days a week, are eligible for pension coverage. This range represents 20% to 80% of a standard full-time schedule. Employers are tasked with registering these part-time employees and updating records for those transitioning from full-time to part-time roles.
## Benefits and Flexibility
The GPSSA's move supports the evolving labor market by providing insurance protection across various employment contracts, including remote and hybrid work models. This flexibility allows Emiratis to better balance work with personal commitments, such as education or family care.
## Ensuring Continuity
The updated pension system also ensures continuity of service for employees switching between full-time and part-time positions, safeguarding their long-term financial and social stability. Employers must use the Ma’ashi platform to implement these changes, reflecting the UAE's commitment to adapting to modern work environments.
