Dubai RTA distributes meals to delivery riders at 23 rest areas

## Initiative Overview

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a new initiative to support delivery riders during the hot summer months. In collaboration with the UAE Food Bank and Deliveroo, the RTA is distributing meals to riders at 23 designated rest areas located at bus and metro stations across the city.

## Locations and Purpose

The meal distribution takes place daily at various locations, including Gold Souq, Al Satwa, Al Jafiliya, Al Qusais, and Al Karama bus stations, as well as metro stations like Al Rashidiya, Al Furjan, DMCC, BurJuman, Ibn Battuta, and e&. This initiative aims to acknowledge the essential role delivery riders play in Dubai's economy and to provide them with necessary support during the extreme heat.

## Supporting Worker Wellbeing

Ahmed Mahboub, CEO of the Licensing Agency at RTA, emphasized that this effort aligns with the UAE's Midday Break initiative, which restricts outdoor work during peak heat hours from June 15 to September 15. This initiative is part of broader efforts to ensure the safety and wellbeing of outdoor workers.

## Community and Environmental Impact

Manal Obaid bin Yaroof from the UAE Food Bank highlighted the program's dual focus on supporting workers and reducing food waste. By utilizing surplus food responsibly, the initiative not only aids those in need but also promotes community solidarity and environmental responsibility.
