## AI Cameras on Buses and Taxis
Sharjah has introduced AI-powered cameras on its public transport vehicles to enhance passenger safety and improve monitoring. Intercity buses are now equipped with ten cameras each, while taxis have five. These cameras are strategically placed both inside and outside the vehicles to monitor road conditions, passenger movements, and driver behavior.
## Advanced Monitoring Capabilities
The AI system is designed to detect objects, pedestrians, and side overtaking, as well as analyze driver behavior. It can also count passengers, detect accidents, and identify lost property. This technology enables real-time alerts, allowing for quicker responses to incidents.
## Strategic Initiative
The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) is spearheading this initiative as part of a broader strategy to integrate advanced technologies into the transport network. Yousif Khamis Al Othmani, Chairman of SRTA, emphasized the commitment to building a safer and more sustainable transport system. Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Jarwan, Director of Transport Affairs, highlighted the role of AI in enhancing operational monitoring and response times.
## Supporting Community Needs
This initiative aligns with the Year of the Family objectives, aiming to provide a safer and more reliable transportation environment. It reflects SRTA’s efforts to offer smart services that meet community expectations, reinforcing Sharjah’s position as a leader in safe and sustainable mobility services.
